REPTON PUPILS CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY SUCCESS
Repton is celebrating a remarkable year of international university success, with pupils securing places at some of the world’s most selective and inspiring institutions.
We have a long and growing tradition of pupils progressing to international universities, particularly in the United States. These achievements follow in the footsteps of Old Reptonians such as Tilly Butterworth, Lucy Barker and Bronte Brough, whose own international journeys continue to inspire the next generation of Reptonians.
Head Boy and Head of New House, Fisayo A, has been offered a place at Harvard University. This represents an exceptional opportunity to study at one of the world’s leading institutions of academic excellence and global influence. This offer reflects Fisayo’s outstanding journey throughout his time at Repton, where he has combined his academic distinction with exceptional sporting achievement, representing the 1st XI for Football and a significant contribution to the wider life of the School, including success in national debating competitions, both in English and French. Fisayo started at St Wystan’s, before joining Repton Prep in Year 7, continuing to become Head Boy at the Senior School. A peerless academic, he achieved an unprecedented 14 grade 9s at GCSE. Following this, he took French and Spanish A Level exams a year early, off-timetable, securing an A* grade in both subjects. An exceptional Mathematician, in 2024, he attended the UKMT Oxford Camp, the first stage of the IMO pathway that leads to selection for the British team. In his SAT exam, he scored 1590, the same score as Bill Gates, placing him in the top 1% of all pupils taking the test!
Elijah B, Head of School House, has also achieved remarkable success with an offer from Minerva University, one of the most innovative and selective universities in the world. This is just reward for Elijah’s commitment to self-development and his outstandingly well-developed soft skills. Throughout his time at Repton and as Head Boy at Repton Prep, he has participated widely across the curriculum, including representing the School in Hockey and Football, as well as at national debating competitions. He has also been a key member in establishing our new Entrepreneurship Club this year. With acceptance rates below 4% for US applicants, and even more competitive for international students, Minerva offers a truly unique global education. Elijah will begin his studies in San Francisco before continuing his degree across a series of world cities, including Berlin, Buenos Aires, Seoul, Tokyo and Taipei, an exceptional opportunity to study alongside like-minded peers.
Zoe B, U6, Mitre, has gained a place to study International Development Studies at McGill University; an exceptional achievement reserved for very few international applicants. Renowned for its academic rigour, research excellence and international outlook, particularly in the social sciences, McGill is consistently ranked among the world’s leading universities. Its location in Montréal - one of the most global and culturally diverse cities in North America - provides a particularly strong context for Zoe to pursue her study of international development, and the university’s commitment to critical thinking will suit her well, preparing her for careers in policy, research and global affairs and more.
Repton’s reputation for sporting excellence is further highlighted by Amber M-S, U6, Abbey, who has secured a full hockey scholarship to the University of Iowa. There, she intends to study health physiology and nutrition, taking advantage of the University’s excellent medical provision and a new purpose-built $249 million building housing the department. The University of Iowa has several hospitals on site, including children’s and veterans’ hospitals, offering a wide range of volunteering and work experience opportunities. The University of Iowa’s women’s field hockey programme is ranked among the strongest in the United States, competing in NCAA Division I, the highest tier of American sport, and consistently placing in the top 10 of the NCAA rankings, reaching the quarter-final of the tournament this year. Amber’s achievement highlights her impressive combination of academic commitment and sporting excellence, and we look forward to supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes from afar.
We are incredibly proud of every one of our pupils, and the ambition, determination and commitment they have shown in realising their aspirations through highly competitive university and work placement pathways. Our thanks also go to Dr James Blackwell, International Universities Coordinator, for his knowledge and support with their applications.
